Cogs and Corsets Presents: The Cog is Dead’s John Sprocket


Steampunk musician John Sprocket is best known as the lead singer and songwriter for steampunk musical act The Cog is Dead, where he takes on the role of the time-traveling captain of their crew.  Praised by critics and audiences alike, The Cog is Dead’s songs combine exciting and diverse musical styles and genres with clever storytelling lyrics that take you to exciting steam-powered worlds!  A  whimsical mix of influences from Danny Elfman to The Beatles and styles ranging from dark cabaret to steampunk rock, electro-swing and much more, their songs have been heard at steampunk events and on steampunk playlists and radio shows since the 2009 release of the song “The Death of the Cog.”  It’s an eclectic mix of musical genres, clever story telling and bold theatrical excitement!

Over the years they have released several albums and singles that have made their way into the ears and hearts of steampunk music fans around the world.  John has collaborated or performed with several fellow steampunk musicians including Abney Park, Steam Powered Giraffe, Aurelio Voltaire, Professor Elemental and more.  The song “Sorrow on the Rails” is featured in the hit video game Metro Exodus, and “The Walking Taco” has been featured multiple times on the legendary Dr. Demento radio show.  And their music can be heard in countless steampunk videos and films across the internet.

John Sprocket has performed across the USA with The Cog is Dead, and this weekend he brings all the best of The Cog is Dead’s music in this high-energy solo performance!  Hear John perform all of The Cog is Dead’s fan favorites, along with a few of his own personal faves.  It’s an exciting and upbeat steampunk musical roller coaster ride that’s sure to get your toes tapping, put a smile on your face, and light a flame in your heart!
