Exhibit: Opening Hazle’s Closet: A Curated Glimpse into the Style of Hazle Buck Ewing

For the first time, visitors to Ewing Manor will be able to better understand what motivated Hazle by examining some of her clothing. A special exhibit, Opening Hazle’s Closet, will be featured at the Manor from October 28, 2023, through September 1, 2024.
Six outfits, including Hazle’s wedding dress, will be on display, as well as swimsuits and accessories. The collection reveals that she was far from a fashionista or socialite. In fact, Hazle preferred attire for riding her beloved horses. Her riding clothes will also be included in the exhibit.
Simple in design and pattern, Hazle’s clothing was minimalist in construction, with many items handmade. Her wardrobe reinforced her desire for others to form their opinion of her for who she was and what she accomplished, not based on what she was wearing.
Opening Hazle’s Closet will be available through scheduled tours. Tickets may be purchased at the door for a cost of $5 each. Proceeds will be used for ongoing restoration work at the Manor. Group tours may be scheduled by contacting Ewing Manor staff. Stairs are involved in taking the tour. The exhibit is partially underwritten by Wisecracker Design & Wisecracker Stu
