About the performance at Bloomington Center for Performing Arts:
Set sail with MIOpera as it opens its 2023 Season with the hilarious and witty comedy: The Pirates of Penzance!
Frederic, who has spent his childhood as a junior pirate, plans to mark his 21st birthday by breaking free from the Pirate King and begins a courtship of Mabel. But, because he was born on February 29th, a date that only arrives every fourth year, Frederic isn’t technically 21…and the Pirate King is still his master. Unless something gives, Frederic will soon be on a collision course with the Pirate King’s new nemesis: Mabel’s father.
Sung in English with English Supertitles
Accompanied by the MIOpera Festival Orchestra
Tracy Marie Koch, stage director
Dr. Dennis Gotkowski, conductor
