BN Nuts Festival sponsored by BEER NUTS® Brand Snacks

Nuts are rooted in Bloomington, Illinois. With a legendary, world-renowned, peanut company based in our community, it’s easy for us to be nuts about nuts! It all began back in 1953, when Russell Shirk founded BEER NUTS® right here in Bloomington. We honor and celebrate this passion for nuts with the BN Nuts Festival sponsored by BEER NUTS® Brand Snacks, a family-friendly culinary event.

With a focus on products made in the local area, this festival in Downtown Bloomington will showcase all-things nuts! Festival-goers will spend the day enjoying nut-related foods, tasting various adult beverages, viewing cooking demonstrations, purchasing local art and crafts, and more all while listening to live music on Front Street!

The BN Nuts Festival is produced by the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and is a not-for-profit event.

Hello, my name is Chef Ale’Sandra Stone. I am a native of central Illinois, born in the early 80’s and raised in Bloomington Illinois. I come from a long line of Chefs following my grandfather’s footsteps, a former Chef at BCC. I attend The Culinary Institute of Platt College Accelerated program and graduated with High Honors in 2013. I quickly excelled in the kitchen moving up the ranks from fry cook to sauté cook to kitchen manager to my current position of Executive Chef at Parke Regency Hotel and Conference Center, where I’ve found a home. I’m honored to be apart of such a wonderful team of Chefs.

SPECIAL BEER LAUNCH

Lil Beaver Brewery is creating a brand new beer recipe exclusively for the BN Nuts Festival!  The new brew will be a peanut butter & jelly wheat beer.  The peanut butter flavors will come from the use of peanut flour, which is a ground peanut product with a large portion of the oils removed.  For the jelly, they’ll be using concord grapes and targeting a classic peanut butter and jelly flavor profile.

This will be a draft only beer created just for this event, and only available at the BN Nuts Festival’s beer tent, and at Lil Beaver Brewery starting September 10, 2022.

Other Nut-flavored Beers Available:

Perennial Artisan Ales (St. Louis, MO) – Squirrel’s Bounty (11.5%): Imperial Stout with coffee, vanilla, cashews, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts, walnuts, and almonds.

Wild Onion Brewery (Lake Barrington, IL) will have two different Nut Brown Ales, which are English Brown Ales with toasted Maris Otter malt. One is pistachio, the other is pecan.

Keg Grove Brewing Company (Bloomington, IL) – R & Deez (5%):  Nut Cream Ale – A smooth, easy drinking, cream ale with a pleasant nose and taste of peanuts and pecans.
