Virtual YWCA Women of Distinction
YWCA Women of Distinction enters its 31st year of recognizing the wonderful women who have shown strong achievement in their work and personal lives, and who have given back to McLean County in the spirit of the YWCA Mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Many Women of Distinction have been trailblazers in their professions, pathfinders for social justice, or women on the rise. Nominations will become available on Wednesday, July 15, and will be taken through Friday, August 28 at 12 p.m.
Nomination categories have been refined and updated to six categories that better reflect those in our community. The categories include Business/Education, Community Leadership, Human Services, Mission Impact, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), and Promise. Full descriptions of each category can be found here.
Also available on July 15 will be applications for the WINGS scholarship, which was created and is funded by prior YWCA Women of Distinction. Women of Distinction have a shared commitment to giving back to other women in McLean County so they created this award to encourage development. The award is given annually to a Woman to Improve her skills for a Notable purpose which allows her to Grow professionally and to achieve Success.
WINGS scholarships are given up to $1,500 for women who are pursuing professional development and can cover tuition, workshops, conferences, seminars, and related expenses. For full criteria and application click here.
