World War I: Over Here … Over There … Our Local Boys in the Air 1915-1918


World War I was the “War to End All Wars” and McLean County had its share of local aeronauts who flew into danger. At 2pm in the Community Room, local history buff Jim Hoppe will bring to life this colorful and experimental era where wooden propellers, wicker seats, wings of spruce and linen, wireless radios, oxygen masks and night flying dominated the skies in war-torn areas.
