Scarecrow Building Festival


Come to the 1st ever Scarecrow Festival at Mackinaw Valley Vineyard on November 1st. This event is hosted by the Tazewell County Resource Center and Mackinaw Valley Vineyard and Winery. Bring your family and friends and start a new Fall Tradition by building your very own Scarecrow. There will be first, second and third place prizes awarded for the two categories which are: Family Teams and Friends Teams. Scarecrows will be displayed throughout the vineyards and yard during November until Thanksgiving. Tazewell County Resource Center will provide the Scarecrows wooden body frame, straw for stuffing, the heads, markers to draw the faces and clothes to dress up your scarecrow. The fee for materials for building each Scarecrow is $10 and ALL the money goes to Tazewell County Resource Center for services and programs. It is FREE for those that just come to watch the builders!! Scarecrows will be judged by local media celebrities to be announced soon. The Scarecrow building will be from 11am to 3pm, with judging at 3:30pm and the event will be held RAIN OR SHINE. We will move the Scarecrow building into the pavilion if it is rainy. There will be a pumpkin pie feed, other foods for sale, hot cider for kids and hot wassails for adults as well as wine tasting in the tasting room all day Please call TCRC at 309-925-2061 or email  Deanie@tcrcorg.com for more information or questions.
