Pushcart Derby

Gather your friends and family for the 2nd Annual CDM Pushcart Derby on Saturday, June 9, 2018! The Children’s Discovery Museum will once again partner with Illinois State University’s Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology for this annual fundraiser powered by STEAM.

Teams of youth (3rd – 8th grade) will begin the day with a workshop led by ISU and Museum educators. Implementing Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math within the design process, teams will use this time to construct their unique carts and prepare for the challenge ahead.

Afterwards, teams will test their designs and race to the finish in the road course derby. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.

Construction supplies will be provided. All you have to bring is your love of learning and plenty of muscle power! Teams consist of 7-10 youth.

Proceeds from the fundraising event will support the Museum’s mission – enabling the expansion of programs, creation of exhibits, continuation of outreach initiatives and scholarship provision for disadvantaged youth.
