Midwest Institute of Opera (MIO) presents Les contes d’Hoffmann


Sung in French with English supertitles.

The Tales of Hoffmann are woven around three women, three idealised figures of the male imagination: Olympia, the mechanical doll, Antonia, the artist, and Giulietta, the courtesan. Hoffmann draws his audience deep into a bizarre dream world while searching for the perfect lover. As he digs further into his fantasies he gradually loses his grip on reality, finally slipping over the edge.
