Lunch & Learn: Fair Trial Rights- Protecting Citizens’ Freedom and Liberty

Bring your brown bag lunch to the Museum’s continuing series, featuring engaging and enlightening topics for discussion. Join us the second Thursday of every month from now until May for a new topic to explore and discuss.

This month Robert Bradley, Professor Emeritus Politics and Government, ISU, will discuss the important procedural guarantees included in the Constitution that are critical to having fair criminal trials. Bradley will examine a variety of rights contained in the Sixth Amendment, such as representation by counsel, impartial jury, public trial, confrontation of accusers, plus others. And he will explore how those rights have evolved through Supreme Court interpretations over the years. Come discover why these rights are important to us and the preservation of American democracy.

This program is free and open to the public and will be held in the Gov. Fifer Courtroom on the 2nd floor of the Museum. This program is sponsored by Illinois Wesleyan University and the McLean County Museum of History.
