Little Women

Based on the 1868 novel by Louisa May Alcott, Little Women follows the lives, loves and tribulations of the March sisters (Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy) growing up during the American Civil War. Their father is off to war and they rely on their mother, Marmee, to see them through the hard times. Inside each of the girls is a desire to both grow up and keep things the same. They all struggle with, and fear, the inevitability that things will change as they grow older and have lives of their own. Through this warm tale of love, family, and individuality, we witness each girl’s journey to try to find her true self.

Little Women was adapted for the stage into a full-length play by Marisha Chamberlain. David Hawley from the St. Paul Pioneer Press and Dispatch wrote a review on the play that states, “From the start of the play to the reunion, Chamberlain has judiciously chosen events that display the personalities and maturation of the March girls… There’s some good, solid dramatic craftsmanship to be seen here…it is a very good representation of Alcott’s book, which was about the best inclinations in humanity and about the importance of family as the source of it all.”
