La Traviata tells the story of the tragic love affair between Violetta Ewing and the romantic Alfredo Germont. Played out against the hypocrisy of Bloomington-Normal’s upper-class society, Alfredo and Violetta’s love threatens to shame his family. When his father directly appeals to Violetta to relinquish her one chance of happiness, Violetta submits and her act of self-sacrifice leads to her paying the ultimate price.

Filmed on location at Ewing Manor, La Traviata combines the beauty, elegance and history of the manor with the sweeping melodies and classic love story of Verdi’s musical score. It also serves to honor how the Ewing family, especially its matriarch, Hazle Buck Ewing, contributed to the vibrant social, economic and artistic community that Bloomington-Normal has today!

Bring blankets and lawn chairs for this amazing movie premiere under the stars. The movie will be shown on an outdoor screen on the south lawn of Ewing Manor. You will be completely immersed in the story as well as the setting of the film!

Popcorn, Candy and Refreshments (non-alcoholic beverages) will be available for purchase!

$25.00 Baskets for two will be available for purchase before the performance, inside you will find a dinner with a variety of food samplings and beverages from your favorite local restaurants, breweries and wineries. Baskets can be purchased with non-alcoholic beverages for the same price.
