Illinois Wesleyan University Jazz Festival

The IWU Jazz Festival is a non-competitive “comments-only” festival which has been celebrated for decades as the starting point of the jazz season for Illinois high school and junior high school jazz groups. Now including vocal jazz groups, this is a great chance to get comments and feedback from our expert jazz adjudicators and get your ensembles inspired for the upcoming Jazz season. Each group receives a 20 minute clinic from one of our adjudicators. The festival features an afternoon performance by the IWU Jazz Ensemble and Unlicensed Syncopation, along with our guest artists and adjudicators. The concert is followed by breakout master classes on each instrument, before resuming the group performances/clinics. It’s a great day of jazz education for students and directors alike, and we hope to see your and your groups there.
