This is the 7th annual LCPH Benefit Concert & Artists’ Marketplace, and will feature music by African dance band, Kina Zoré, a group that produces an electrifying sound that combines soulful brass, uplifting vocals, and hypnotic polyrhythms. The six-member band, made up of musicians trained at Berklee and the New England Conservatory, is led by Helder Tsinine, whose lyrics give voice to the social, economic, and health issues faced by those in his hometown of Maputo, Mozambique. Kina Zoré’s message resonates with LCPH’s mission to provide free healthcare to the people of Lamu, Kenya. Light appetizers will be served, African wines and other beverages will be on sale.
