Grand Opening – Challenges, Choices, & Change: Working for a Living exhibit
The McLean County Museum of History would like to invite you to help celebrate the unveiling of our newest permanent exhibit, Challenges, Choices, and Change: Working for a Living. This exhibit will showcase how the people of McLean County earned their daily bread by the sweat of their brow and the engagement of their brains by exploring where they worked, what their tasks were, and how their work changed with the advent of new technologies. The exhibit will feature the diverse range of jobs and occupations held in McLean County throughout its almost 200 year history; including jobs in physical labor, trades, manufacturing, merchandising, entertainment, and public and civil service.
The celebration will begin with a ribbon cutting ceremony followed by a program by exhibit curator Mike Matejka in the courtroom. Additionally, area businesses, local unions, trades people, skilled workers, and artisans will be hosting booths on the Main Street and Jefferson Street sides of our building that will showcases their skills and what services they provide in our community in interactive ways. Activities will conclude at 4:00 p.m.
