“Fly on the Ford”

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 129, based at the Central Illinois Regional Airport (KBMI) in Bloomington, IL will host the EAA’s “City of Wichita” on its 2018 Ford Tri-Motor tour of U.S. cities.

Adults and children will be able to experience the energy, passion, and excitement of the roaring ’20s by flying aboard the Ford Tri-Motor this June 14-17 at the Central Illinois Regional Airport. Known as the first luxury airliner, the Ford Tri-Motor redefined world travel and marked the beginning of commercial flight.

EAA Chapter 129 has been selected to host one of the stops on this year’s EAA Ford Tri-Motor tour. Weekend attendees may purchase rides on the aircraft in advance or on site at the event to – in a rare and exciting way – experience flight on a premier airliner of the 1920s and 1930s. Ticket sales will help EAA ensure that this exceptional aircraft experience remains available to others, while also assisting EAA Chapter 129 in continuing its service to the central Illinois general aviation community.

Viewing this historic aircraft is free of charge and personal photography is encouraged. Access to the plane will be available during the scheduled flight hours each day, and all guests accessing the airport’s ramp area must be guided to and from by an authorized escort.

The Ford Tri-Motor may be accessed through the former terminal building on Carnahan Drive in Bloomington, IL.
