The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) is sponsoring a series of films during the 2022-2023 academic year. The CSD Student Advisory Board (SAB) obtained a Fell Trust grant to fund a monthly film related to various speech, language, or hearing needs. The Normal Theater and Milner Library have partnered with CSD to offer these showings, free and open to the public.
The second film for the Fall semester, When I Stutter, plays Wednesday September 28th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Normal Theater. This film serves as an educational precursor to October’s Stuttering Awareness Month and follows a young man on his journey through stuttering therapy. The relationship that he forms with the speech-language pathologist and the progress that he makes is truly heartwarming
At the showing of When I Stutter, representatives from the National Stuttering Association (NSA) and Stuttering Scholarship Alliance (SSA) will describe resources available to persons who stutter. CSD faculty member Dr. Jean Sawyer will speak about the stuttering research and clinic efforts offered through CSD at ISU.
Contact Tricia Larkin at (309)438-5090 if you have questions about the program.
