Create Cards of Hope: Making Cards of Hope for Disaster Relief Boxes
January 6th, 2023 – Create Cards of Hope: Making Cards of Hope for Disaster Relief Boxes for Midwest Food Bank.
Coming up Friday, January 6th, from 5 to 8 pm we will create cards at Angel Ambrose Fine Art Studio and Art Vortex Studio and Inside Out: Accessible Art!
Local artists are once again organizing a card creating event for Midwest Food Bank’s Disaster Relief Boxes. As part of January’s First Friday, participants are invited to create cards of hope to be included in disaster relief boxes given to those affected by disasters. Those impacted by disaster often feel alone and displaced from normalcy. Midwest Food Bank distributes family food boxes and other supplies throughout the year to help in times of disaster.
Executive Director Tara Ingham said, “The cards will be included in family food boxes which will be distributed to those experiencing disaster. We often hear from box recipients that they appreciate the cards. For them, knowing someone cares and is thinking of them while they are facing a crisis provides much hope for better days ahead. Midwest Food Bank is grateful for the efforts of our local artists and businesses.”
These handmade cards of hope remind those facing temporary uncertainty that there are others who care. We invite you to make cards and there are two ways of participating—in person or on your own.
You can visit Angel Ambrose Fine Art Studio and Janean Baird’s Art Vortex Studios in the Monroe Building (101 W. Monroe Street, Bloomington, IL) on January’s First Friday, January 6th, 2023 from 5 pm to 8 pm.
Card making stations, complete with all materials needed to make a card, will be available. Tip jars will be nearby for those wishing to make a monetary donation to the Midwest Food Bank’s Disaster Relief Fund.
