The morning begins with the nonprofits workshop for staff, board members and volunteers of nonprofits entitled “Nonprofit Board of Directors: Creating and Maintaining an Effective, Engaged Board.” The workshop will take place from 8:30-11:30 a.m., with check-in beginning at 8 a.m. A panel of local experts will examine a variety of topics relating to boards, including Functionality – Size, Term Limits, Continuing Education; Recruitment/Orientation; Participation/Expectations (Time, Financial); Responsibilities/Accountability; Governance; Communication with Staff & Constituents; and Best Practices & Challenges. Round table discussions will follow with panelists and participants.

The Celebrating Local Philanthropy Luncheon will honor 2018 Philanthropists of the Year Duane and Toni Farrington of Bloomington. The luncheon will be from noon-1 p.m., with check-in beginning at 11:30 a.m.

“The Farringtons exemplify the spirit of philanthropy through their involvement in, and support of, numerous community organizations during the 14 years they have lived in our community,” said IPCF Executive Director Greg Meyer.

Registration for both the workshop and the luncheon are now open. Cost of the workshop is $25 per person; two people from the same nonprofit organization may attend for the price of one. Cost of the luncheon is $40 per person. A vegetarian meal option is available for lunch attendees.
