Fall Flavors in Bloomington-Normal

It’s September and we are dreaming of cool FALL days! While there are a few summer days left, we can’t help but think about all of the delicious food and drink that comes with the season of fall. Get started on your fall flavor adventure and enjoy the many tastes of BN!

Here are a few local favorites you will want to check out:

 

Coffee Shops & Cafes

CRAFTED Coffee Brews has endless fall-themed coffees for you to try out this season! On those colder days, warm up with a Caramel Spiced Cider, Apple Cider Chai, or a Hot Pumpkin Spice Latte. For those who prefer iced coffee, CRAFTED has the Pumpkin Cheesecake Macchiato or an Iced Apply Cider Chai that will suit your taste buds.

CoffeeHound has all the pumpkin and cider coffees you could dream of! Their Houndmade Pumpkin is made with pumpkin sauce with pumpkin puree, honey, Vermont maple syrup and spices. They also have Caramel Apple Cider, Pumpkin Freeze, and Pumpkin Cold Foam available at all locations. At CH3, you can also enjoy a Campfire Latte, Salted Caramel Latte, Sugar & Spice Latte, and an Apple Pie Chai. Bakery itms include Apple Cider Donuts from Curtis Orchard, Pumpkin muffins and scones, Apple spice muffins and scones and Oatmeal apple caramel cookies.

You can’t truly enjoy fall until you have a Bloomington-Normal staple, a Rader Family Farms pumpkin donut! Rader will open for the season on Saturday, September 11. This agritainment space offers a lot of fun for the entire family. Shoot apples out of their Apple Blasters, fly high on their giant jumping pillow, and climb the tire tower. Visitors can also pet goats, ride down barrel slides, dive into a corn bin, and play corn ball. Rader also has an amazing 10-acre corn maze for you to get lost in. Just be sure you don’t leave the Farm without buying a delicious pumpkin donut or their famous apple cider slushy!

Craft Beer

Our local breweries are also bringing out the tastes of fall in their beers! Lil Beaver Brewery is releasing their popular Pumpkin Pi, an Imperial Ale with pumpkin, vanilla, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, and lactose. The Lil Beaver brewers say that this drink tastes just like liquid pumpkin pie! You can also request the beer to be served topped with whipped cream.

Keg Grove Brewing Company has two autumn beers to enjoy this season. The Harvest Corn, an Oktoberfest, is smooth and creamy and made with 45% corn. Coming at the end of this month, or early October, they will release their Pumpkin Pie Wheat, which is called Show Me Your Stem. This brew will be offered with an optional graham cracker rim and whipped cream topping.

White Oak Brewing has their Oktoberfest available now! Kraut Jokes Are the Wurst is a traditional Marzen, made with all German ingredients. If you stop by the brewery, you can also try new Tarte Cherry and Lime Seltzers.
