Spring Break in Bloomington-Normal

You don’t need to hop on a plane or stay in a fancy resort to have a great vacation. Right now, staycations are as popular as ever! Trust us, there’s plenty of fun to be had here in the Bloomington-Normal area this time of year. If you’re planning on staying home this year for Spring Break, here are our tips on how to still make the week fun for you and your family.

Explore the Outdoors

Moraine View State Recreation Area is a great place to unplug and explore the beauties of nature. With fully developed facilities for picnicking, camping, hiking, and fishing, the 1,687-acre recreation area, with its 158-acre lake, is a beautiful, convenient and accessible locale for relaxation and recreation.

There’s no better place to get outdoors in BN than the Constitution Trail. The 45+ mile, multi-use trail has been a Bloomington-Normal staple since 1989. Much of the trail follows the old Illinois Central Gulf Railroad right-of-way through the community. You can discover so much of our communities by traveling the Constitution Trail! Whether you bike, walk, or jog, the trail is adventure, discovery, and fun all in one. No matter what branch you take, you and the family will find unique history, parks to play on, and a place to rest.

Just a few miles north of Bloomington-Normal, Comlara Park is a large, nature recreation area that’s perfect for biking, hiking, and picnicking. Pack a lunch and a blanket and enjoy a picnic overlooking Evergreen Lake at Comlara with the family. They also have various playgrounds and open spaces for kids to enjoy!
