We’re Nuts For Beer Nuts

Located right in the heart of Bloomington, you’ll find the home to beer’s best friend, Beer Nuts!

In 1937, Edward Shirk and his son purchased a local confectionary that sold caramel apples, caramel corn, and their most popular item, redskin peanuts. A few years later, Russell Shirk took over the family business and started packaging their sweet and savory redskin peanuts, then called ‘Shirk’s Redskin Peanuts’, for a local liquor store. After becoming popular in the bars and taverns of Bloomington, the ‘Beer Nuts’ name was born in 1953.

An instant success, Beer Nuts could be found in nearly every bar or tavern in all 50 states and even earned the nickname of ‘America’s Favorite Nuts’. Eventually they produced cashews, almonds, and a variety of other nuts to add the mix and the rest is history.

Today, Beer Nuts is still a Shirk family-owned business with the same secret recipe. All of their products are only produced right here in Bloomington, IL and shipped out to all 50 states and even some foreign countries!

While their facility isn’t currently open due to COVID-19, you can still order Beer Nuts through their website or pick it up curbside while you’re in town!
