Discover Bloomington-Normal With Your Pup

We all know that one of the hardest parts about heading out on a trip is leaving behind your best friend, the dog! There’s no denying that they are a huge part of the family. Good news is that there’s no need to leave them at home when visiting Bloomington-Normal as there are multiple activities, restaurants, and hotels that are pet-friendly!

Paw-some Parks

Let your dog burn off their energy at one of our local dog parks! The Town of Normal has two leash-free, enclosed dog parks to promote exercise and interaction with other dogs: Shepard Park and Maxwell Park. Don’t forget to snap a picture of your adorable pup in Maxwell Park’s dog photo frame! In addition to these dog parks, many of the other Bloomington-Normal parks allow for dogs to roam as long as they are on their leash.

Hit the Trails

Looking to be more active? Explore Bloomington-Normal with your companion from the Constitution Trail! This mainly shaded 45+ mile long trail will take through both the Bloomington and Normal communities. Along the trail you will encounter parks, nature, hidden sanctuaries, rich history, and vibrant areas! Be on the lookout for doggy water fountains on the trail that will help cool off your pup.

BN is also home to beautiful nature areas. Take on hiking trails at Comlara Park or Moraine View State Recreation Area with your four-legged friend. With miles of trails, there’s so much for you to discover. If your dog is up for it, rent a kayak or rowboat at either park and take them out on the water for a peaceful afternoon.

Bone Appétit

Sip on coffee from Coffee Hound with your hound in Downtown Bloomington! This cozy, local coffee shop offers outdoor seating for you to relax while enjoying bakery items and delicious coffee. If it’s a Saturday morning between May and October, stroll over to the Downtown Bloomington Farmers’ Market in the Downtown Square and shop for unique finds, locally grown produce, homegrown flowers, and more! Pups are very much welcomed at the Farmers’ Market. They will love walking around with all the new, exciting sights and smells.

Bring your pup along for brews on Desthil Brewery’s patio. Destihl Brewery features 48 taps including Destihl Beer, Hard Cider and House Brewed Soda. There is also a wide array of “beertails”, cocktail inspired beer mixed drinks. Aside from the beverages, The Beer Hall experience also includes a full food menu. On summer weekends, Destihl offers live performances by local musicians. So sit back, order a unique craft beer, enjoy music, and hangout with your dog!

Your dog deserves a sweet treat too! Theo’s Microcreamery  in Uptown Normal offers a delicious Doggy Sundae that is sure to put a smile on their face. Enjoy ice cream as well as the sights and sounds of Uptown Normal in Emack’s courtyard. They even have a complimentary water bowl placed out there for the pups.
