Spring is officially here, and with it comes warmer weather, sunshine and more outdoor activities. Here are some events happening in Bloomington-Normal that will get you in the mood for spring:
Downtown Bloomington Farmers’ Market
May 4, 11, 18, 25
May is the beginning of the Downtown Bloomington Outdoor Farmers’ Market. You’ll find the freshest fruit and veggies, cheese, flowers and more at the market, which takes place on Museum Square.
Illinois Symphony Orchestra – Nature’s Beauty
May 3
Bask in Nature’s Beauty with the return of renowned violinist Rachel Barton Pine, recognized as a Great Performer of Illinois, performing Bruch’s tuneful Scottish Fantasy and Vaughan-Williams beautiful Lark Ascending. The full forces of nature are on display in Lili Boulanger’s impressionistic depiction Of A Spring Morning and concluding with Respighi’s triumphant masterpiece, Pines of Rome. The performance will take place at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.
Constitution Trail 30th Anniversary Celebration
May 4
The Constitution Trail was dedicated back in May 1989, and 30 years later – it’s bigger and better than ever! A celebration will be held on at 12:00pm at the Connie Link Amphitheatre in Normal as we honor the history, and celebrate the future, of Bloomington-Normal’s most popular park. The celebration will kick off with music by Kickin’ and Pickin’, special remarks at approximately 12:45pm, followed by refreshments.
Ewing Manor Tours
May 6, 13, 20, 27
Built between 1928-1929, the Manor celebrated its 90th anniversary in the fall of 2018. A time capsule placed by Davis and Hazle Buck Ewing was opened to celebrate the event. Time capsule contents will be on display for guests to view.
