Homecoming in BN
Bloomington-Normal is fortunate enough to be home to not only one, but two universities, Illinois State and Illinois Wesleyan, which means double the opportunities for campus fun.
IWU’s homecoming is up first, from October 13-15. For a complete schedule, click here.
Illinois Wesleyan University: Since its founding in 1850, Illinois Wesleyan University has been striving to offer its students a liberal arts education while providing them with unique opportunities with distinctive curricula and programs. The university has a total enrollment of 1,893 and has 43 majors to choose from, five professional programs and eight pre-professional programs.
Food: On IWU’s campus, Tommy’s is a must-stop. Don’t miss the opportunity to try some of their famous burgers, including the Titan Burger and the Jack Horenberger. Sit back and relax in a comfortable chair with a hot coffee or a fresh bagel at Hattie’s, which also serves smoothies and hand-dipped milkshakes. Watch the game on the big-screen TV, or play arcade games while you wait for your food.
Fun: Attend a lecture in one of IWU’s lecture halls, see a concert or performance at Westbrook Auditorium, or go to a student art exhibit held at Merwin & Wakeley Galleries.
Fans: Show your Titan pride by attending a game of volleyball, basketball or a track meet at Shirk Center. Catch a soccer match at Neis Soccer Field, or football game at Tucci Stadium.
ISU’s homecoming weekend will take place from October 20-22. For their list of activities, click here.
Illinois State University: Illinois State University is the state’s first public university. Founded in 1857, it is one of the Midwest’s higher education institutions. The university offers more than 188 fields of undergraduate study across 34 academic departments. In addition to the 39 master’s programs coordinated by the Graduate School, the university offers two specialist and nine doctoral programs.
Food: ISU has no shortage of dining options. Located in the Bone Student Center, McAlister’s Deli is a campus favorite. Thanks to its close proximity to Uptown Normal, Medici and Firehouse Pizza & Pub are just a quick walk away.
Fun: Head over to the Bowling & Billiards Center if you’re in the mood to bowl a strike, shoot some pool or dominate in air hockey! ISU is also the home of the Gamma Phi Circus, which presents a weekend of shows each spring.
Fans: Back the Birds by attending an exciting basketball game at Redbird Arena or football game at Hancock Stadium. Catch a performance or concert at Braden Auditorium, or view an exhibit at University Galleries.
