Spring is finally here!

With the warmer weather, fresh air and blooming flowers comes lots and lots of . . . rain.

Listed below are places to go to keep the kids occupied on a rainy afternoon!


Artful Designs
502 North Prospect Road, Bloomington

Artful Designs is BN’s only paint your own pottery studio! Choose from dishes, vases, mugs and bowls to make over. Artful Designs also offers Kids Night Out, which includes pizza, painting and a movie!

Children’s Discovery Museum
101 East Beaufort Street, Normal

Are you looking for a fun, innovative and safe way to spend a rainy afternoon with the kids? The Children’s Discovery Museum has three floors of hands-on activities that will inspire their love of learning. The Museum exhibits are a celebration of exploration and discovery – filled with innovative and richly layered cognitive experiences for toddlers through pre-teens.

McLean County Museum of History

200 North Main Street, Bloomington

The museum features 18,000 objects in its collections, 10,000 volumes in its library and over 1,500 linear feet of archives. The museum offers hands-on activities for children as well as annual events including the Evergreen Cemetery Walk and Christmas at the Courthouse. It is also the home of the Cruisin’ with Lincoln on 66 Visitors Center.

Pepsi Ice Center
201 South Roosevelt Avenue, Bloomington

Rent a pair of skates and skate the day away at the Pepsi Ice Center! If you need to refuel, stop by the snack bar. Need a pair of gloves or socks? They’ve got you covered at their skating accessories station.

Prairie Aviation Museum
2929 East Empire Street, Bloomington

Visitors of all ages can touch the displays and static aircrafts at the Prairie Aviation Museum. Visit with members who flew and maintained the aircraft in the Air Park.

Upper Limits Indoor Rock Climbing Gym
1304 West Washington Street, Bloomington

Upper Limits has more than 20,000 square feet of climbing space, including routes up to 110 feet tall, a wave-wall, bi-level cave and a unique outdoor bouldering area. It accommodates all ages and skill levels, offering introductory and advanced classes.
