Turkey Trot

Most families spend Thanksgiving Day eating a delicious meal, watching football and spending time with loved ones. For the past 37 years, the Bloomington Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department has been providing the opportunity for families to celebrate in a different way: by giving back. The Turkey Trot, which features three different races throughout Miller Park, collects non-perishable food items to benefit Home Sweet Home Ministries.

Sign-up begins at 8 am. The first race of the day is the Kids’ Run which will start at 9 am. The three-mile run will follow at 9:15, and the one- and- a -half mile walk will start at 9:30. None of the races are timed and awards are not given. Instead, everyone who signs up and participates is entered into the drawings for prizes including event shirts, frozen turkeys and much more! Shirts will also be available for purchase at the event.

The Turkey Trot will take place come rain, snow or shine! No matter what race you participate in, you are sure to find a great opportunity for a fun, family-friendly event to kick-start your holiday feast!
