Illinois State University Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser
The ISU chapter of Habitat for Humanity is hosting its third annual Big Tip Tuesday, a fundraising partnership with local businesses. The event will be held all day on March 28 at various locations in Normal, including Coffeehound, Coffee House, the Garlic Press, and Fusion Brew. Please stop by! All tips received that day will go toward building this year’s Habitat house.
Big Tip Tuesday is one in a series of fundraisers being organized by ISU Habitat for Humanity for Spring 2017. The ISU Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity works closely alongside the Illinois Wesleyan University Campus Chapter in both fundraising, and building the yearly ISU and IWU Campus Chapter Habitat for Humanity house. Habitat for Humanity building projects have provided homes to more than 150 low-income families in McLean county. It provides not only a place to live, but a fresh start. No-interest home loans help families afford house payments and assume financial responsibility, which is a tool they can now utilize for the rest of their lives. One Habitat for Humanity home owner couldn’t have said it any better:
“This home is more than a house. It is a home with love, built with love and hope and dreams, because of Habitat for Humanity. You’ve given our family hope – no matter how bad things get or have been in the past. God has blessed our family with the caring, supportive, concerned, kind people at Habitat.”
Habitat for Humanity is an organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing in the community. It does this largely through volunteer assistance in constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent and affordable place to live in dignity and safety. With a combination of dedicated volunteers, several outstanding fundraisers, and charitable donations, the ISU chapter of Habitat for Humanity has successfully built 23 houses in 22 years.
