The Weston family unexpectedly reunites when alcoholic patriarch, Beverly, disappears on a hot, summer night. Cancer-stricken, drug-addicted mother, Violet, summons her adult daughters to the family home in Oklahoma, where fierce grievances are aired and unsettling secrets are exposed.
August: Osage County was written by Tracy Letts and premiered at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago in the summer of 2007. The show moved directly to Broadway in late 2007, using most of the original cast from Steppenwolf, and won Tony Awards for Best Play, Best Leading Actress, Best Direction, Best Featured Actress and Best Scenic Design.
The play has adult situations and language.
